Community ProjectTeamworkDSC01460.JPG

This is just one of the many PBL projects we will be involved in this year. We started this project by completing activities that create a classroom community. One activity our students created with a teamwork puzzle. The students were giving a piece of the puzzle without knowing what it piece went to. They drew what it was like to help others. Each table then put their puzzle together to form a letter. The students put the letters together to form Teamwork. We discussed what is was like to have teamwork.DSC01452.JPGOur students also create a picture as to what they thought a good student looked like. They wrote characteristics around the students and describing why they choose these words.DSC01453.JPGAnother activity was ATTITUDE = 100%. The students broke the code by using the Alphabet. A=1, B=2 and so on. We then discussed how we should always have a 100% attitude toward classwork and our peers.DSC01458.JPGThis activity is ongoing throughout the year. We are reading a book called 7 Habits of Happy Kids by: Sean Covey. This book introduces young readers to the popular Covey family “7 Habits” through an irresistible cast of characters and entertaining stories. From being proactive all the way to sharpening your saw, this kid-friendly book has a fully illustrated story to introduce each of the 7 HabitsDSC01456.JPGDSC01459.JPGDSC01457.JPGAfter talking and building our classroom community. We adventured out into the community outside our walls at Lincoln Elementary. We invited community members in to talk about how they have to work together as a community to GET THE JOB DONE.Then the students explored community service projects of other kids their age and created a glogster on the information they learned from their research.Driving Question: How can we demonstrate the positive benefits of volunteering to our community?
